New Orleans is a city filled with fun, laughter, and, above all, music. The city’s music culture is legendary. There’s something magical about hearing live music pouring out of every corner, from Frenchmen Street to the smallest neighborhood clubs. While New Orleans is best known for jazz, its music scene embraces everything from blues and funk to rock, hip hop, and indie. Going to concerts here isn’t just about the music; it’s about being part of a vibrant tradition and connecting with a community that truly celebrates sound. With concerts happening almost every day, there’s always a reason to get out and experience the city’s unique musical spirit. Here are a few upcoming concerts that are definitely going to attract a lot of attention:
Friday, October 2nd: Of Monsters And Men
The song “Little Talks” by Of Monsters and Men has been among their most famous for years and is sure to bring a crowd on October 2nd when the Icelandic indie folk-rock band plays at the Civic Theater here in New Orleans. The context of this song, a conversation between an elderly widow and her deceased husband, doesn’t match its catchy, upbeat music. Whenever this song comes on, it makes me want just to let go of my stress and dance through the melody. I am sure this concert will attract many students here at Tulane, not only for its famous tunes, but also for a fun time and some dancing.
Friday, October 9th: One Vision of Queen
The world-renowned Queen tribute band, One Vision of Queen, is coming to you live at the Jefferson Performing Arts Center on Friday, October 9th! I recently listened to the lead singer Marc Martel’s version of “Don’t Stop Me Now,” and I can confirm it does, in fact, sound like Queen. Though this band may attract some older New Orleanians, I am positive this will be an amazing concert for young and old alike. Marc Martel and One Vision of Queen will bring Queen’s classic sound to life here in New Orleans. I certainly can’t wait to hear “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “Don’t Stop Me Now” live!
Wednesday, October 14th & 15th: Marilyn Manson
Known for his American rock and alternative metal, Marilyn Manson will bring a fun concert to the Fillmore on October 14th and 15th. Screaming along to his mysterious, angry music would definitely take away all my school stress. His stage name and appearance make me want to uncover what his songs are really about. He is coming to the Fillmore for two days, so buy tickets now because I am sure they will sell out! Don’t miss the electric energy only a New Orleans crowd can bring—these concerts are as much about the community as the music.
Wednesday, October 10th: Hayley Williams
Hayley Williams has always been prominent in the music industry, especially as the lead vocalist and founding member of Paramore. She was featured on one of Taylor Swift’s vault tracks, “Castle on the Hill,” on the album Speak Now. Her voice is incredibly beautiful and blends perfectly with Taylor Swift in that song. Besides this feature, Paramore is an extraordinary band with some of my favorite songs, including “Ain’t It Fun”, “The Only Exception”, and “Still Into You”. If she performs any of her songs, I am sure the concert will be a blast. Tickets are already sold out, so buy one on SeatGeek, StubHub, or another platform to see Hayley Williams perform live at Champions Square! There’s nothing quite like seeing an artist you love in New Orleans, where the city’s passion for music turns every concert into an unforgettable night.
Friday, November 13th: Tommy Castro and the Painkillers
Tommy Castro and the Painkillers are an electric blues, soulful R&B, and classic rock group. Tommy Castro formed the Painkillers to strip his sound down to a raw, high-energy core, which is evident in songs like “Love Is,” which has a groovy vibe. Castro has said before that The Painkillers’ music kills the pain for people, which I think is true as I keep listening to their music. The concert is at the New Orleans Jazz Market and will certainly be a fun time with friends and some upbeat, folk-like music. Shows like this truly capture what makes New Orleans special: a sense of community, joy, and music that brings everyone together.
