Every week brings on something new, and this week, I’m going to share with you seven songs to get you through it. Whether you just got a test back which you’re not happy about, the weekend brought on some unwanted feels, or you’re just ready for summer, these songs will be sure to help you through whatever time you’re having.

Monday

“Pineapple Skies” by Miguel

Ugh. Monday blues. Mondays suck, right? The weekend is over, and all you want to do is lie in bed. Maybe cry a little? We’ve all been there. Well, pull up Spotify or Apple Music and listen to “Pineapple Skies”, by Miguel in his album War Leisure.

With its bright, upbeat, chill vibe, this song is sure to lift your spirits and make you want to start your week on a high note. Even the lyrics are motivational: “Promise everything gon’ be alright” are words to tell yourself each Monday.

Tuesday

“Worry No More” by Diplo (ft. Lil Yachty, Santigold)

Honestly, it still feels like Monday. Tuesdays are Monday’s twin. Not identical, but fraternal. Maybe work is starting to pile up and you’re starting to feel how the rest of your week is about to play out. Well, don’t stress yet. Pop your headphones in and play “Worry no More” by Diplo.

Diplo dropped this single at the beginning of March 2018, featuring Santigold and Lil Yachty. This song has a catchy beat and lyrics that, though might be repetitive at times, send the message of working hard for what you want. This song is a part of Diplo’s new solo album, California, which was released March 23rd, 2018.

Wednesday

“B.I.D” by Tory Lanez

Alright, we know how Wednesdays go down here at Tulane: Finish classes, happy hour, have a night. It’s a night that is hyped up all week, and honestly, it’s important to have a song that matches the vibe of Wednesdays. This is why you should listen to “B.I.D” by Tory Lanez. No, this might not be the song that plays on repeat at your favorite frat or The Boot, but it will get you ready for the night ahead.

Thursday

“Psycho” by Post Malone (ft. Ty Dolla $ign)

Honestly, at this point, you might actually be going psycho that it’s not Friday yet. The weekend is approaching and the excitement is real. To ease your anxiety and excitement, listen to Psycho by Post Malone, featuring Ty Dolla $ign. Malone released this single in 2018, and it has been in the top charts for a few weeks now. People know and love this song for its catchy lyrics and chill beats. Take a break from studying and listen!

Friday

“Finesse (Remix)” By Bruno Marz (Ft. Cardi B.)

Friday! It’s finally the weekend. Time to forget the stresses of the week, let loose, and have fun! What better way to start off the weekend than by listening to Finesse (Remix) by Bruno Marz, Featuring Cardi B. Whatever kind of day or night you’re having, it’s important to have a song that boosts your mood and this song is the one for the job.

Marz first released this song on his 2016 album, 24K Magic. Two years later, the song is revised with Cardi B, giving it a whole new spin. It is reminiscent of early 90’s rap and hip-hop. These throwback vibes will be sure to bring you back.

Saturday

Spice Girl by Aminé

Weekends not over yet! It is just getting started. Wherever you may be at Tulane on this day, maybe the B-school, dartying, Howie-t, recovering from last night (no judgment), make sure you listen to “Spice Girl”, by Aminé. This song was released in his 2017 album Good For You. Though its release was over a year ago, this song blew up in 2018. The lyrics are full of references to the Spice Girls, so rally up your crew and get ready to have a night. Good news is, this song will be playing at The Boot and every frat tonight.

Sunday

Sunday Morning by Maroon 5

Sunday scaries are real. We have all felt them in one way or another. Pump yourself up for the upcoming week and start your work by throwing it back to a classic by Maroon 5, “Sunday Morning” in their 2002 album, Songs About Jane. This song will give you the motivation you need with its upbeat, happy, slow-rock vibe.

With this song as your soundtrack, you can tackle anything: that paper you never got to, a workout at Reilly, or a much needed, relaxing breakfast with friends. Though the week is over, you’re ready to start the next one with a whole new outlook.
