It is finally October! The month of pumpkins, candy, and scary movies. And what better way to celebrate this spooky month than with a Halloween movie marathon? From family fun to outright horrifying, here is a list of my personal favorite movies to get you into the Halloween spirit!

1. Halloweentown (the entire series)

The Thirlby

Kickstart your Halloween movie marathon with the classic Halloweentown movies. Follow Marnie and the rest of the Piper siblings on their journey to discover their Halloweentown heritage.

2. Jennifer’s Body

Mean Girls meets Carrie in this comedic thriller. Jennifer (Megan Fox) becomes a man-eating cheerleader after a night out with her best friend, Needy (Amanda Seyfried), goes terribly wrong. Jennifer’s Body is the perfect movie for your girl’s night this October.

3. Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride

Mental Floss

Nothing says Halloween quite like Tim Burton. From The Nightmare Before Christmas to Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride, you really can’t go wrong. This movie has become an iconic movie to watch during October and it also offers a great couple’s costume idea (unfortunately my boyfriend vetoed this idea).

4. Get Out

Vulture

Get Out is the perfect scary movie for Halloween. Your eyes will be glued to the screen from start to finish in this suspenseful thriller! Get Out also has the craziest plot twist since The Sixth Sense (another Halloween favorite).

5. Hocus Pocus

Now considered a cult classic, is it really Halloween if you don’t watch witch Bette Midler try to wreck absolute havoc in Salem on Halloween Eve?

6. Twitches

Gainesville Daily Register

Reconnect with your inner twelve-year-old. There is nothing like the Twitches movies to bring you back to your early Halloween years of trick-or-treating and magic.

7. Scream

Another comedic horror movie, meet Scream: the movie that inspired the most infamous Halloween costume. Scream is a satiric movie that makes fun of horror movies while being a genuinely scary movie. If you don’t want to watch this movie for the plot, then you should definitely watch it for the young Skeet Ulrich.

8. Carrie

Whether it’s the 1976 film or the 2013 film starring Chloë Grace Moretz, Carrie is an all-time favorite Halloween movie.

9. Insidious

The Hollywood Reporter

From the director of The Conjuring and Saw, comes the greatest horror movie. Insidious is a supernatural thriller that will keep you up for at least a week (but it’s totally worth it).

10. The Ring

SYFY

Finally, The Ring will make you scared to watch TV out of fear that Samara will come out of the screen. So basically, you should definitely watch it for Halloween.

These 10 movies will make your October movie nights the spookiest and most fun Halloween yet!
