If you’re already feeling those post-Mardi Gras blues, don’t fear! The city known for its “laissez les bon temps rouler” motto is not stopping the festivities any time soon. Here is a list of some upcoming celebrations and festivals to tide you over, at least until the Mardi Gras memories are less fresh.

Freret Street Festival: March 30

Another exciting and upcoming event is the Freret Street Festival. Walking distance from campus, this one is easily accessible. It spans six blocks and consists of artists, chefs, businesses, and bands- on three different stages. With its eclectic emphasis on art, music, and food, there is something for everyone. If you’re staying in New Orleans during spring break or returning early, the Freret Street Festival would be a great day to look forward to. Come check it out, appreciate local products, and mark down some spots on Freret Street you want to try!

French Quarter Festival: April 11-14

This enormous festival commemorates New Orleans’ most well-known neighborhood, the French Quarter. It is a celebration of culture with a plethora of food and music. During this weekend, over 20 stages with local musicians and 40 local food vendors will span throughout the quarter. French Quarter Fest begins Thursday, April 11 with yet another parade at 10am, which makes its way through Bourbon Street and Jackson Square. With its free admission and array of amenities, this celebration attracts residents and visitors alike. You’ll surely want to be one of them!

Crawfest at Tulane University: April 20

Occurring right here on campus, you won’t be able to miss this one. And why would you want to? Crawfest has it all: food (the highlight is clearly the all-you-can-eat crawfish), music, art, merch, and a mascot named Carl. Plus, admission is free for students. The event is entirely student run and organized. It provides the perfect environment for Tulanians to come together with their friends, bask in the beautiful spring weather, and enjoy crawfish on the quad.

New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival: April 25-May 5

Last, but certainly not least, is Jazz Fest. This year’s lineup includes Foo Fighters, Chris Stapleton, The Killers, and the renowned band, The Rolling Stones, among many others. You can buy a weekend or single day pass, depending on your interest level (and bank account). You’ll be able to stroll the historic Fair Grounds Race Course and experience eclectic music from 13 stages. Make sure you carve out some time to view the art at cultural pavilions and indulge in delicious local cuisine. With finals approaching soon afterwards, Jazz Fest is the essential sendoff.
