Healthy study snacks may be hard to find at Tulane when you could just as easily eat popcorn, chips, candy, or anything else tempting from Mac Market. I try as hard as I can to fuel myself with healthy snacks that are filled with the nutrients to keep my brain working during those late study hours. Below are my recommendations for the best go-to snacks on campus and nearby:

Mac Market:

Hope Hummus: This hummus comes in tons of different flavors (my favorite being the Kale Pesto) and is great with the veggie chips listed below.

York’s Harvest Garden Chips: These mixed vegetable chips are made out of real veggies, making them a healthy alternative to regular potato chips.

Rhythm Superfoods Kale Chips: For only 100 calories per pack, these kale chips are filled with protein and fiber.

NuttZo Organic Power Fuel Smooth 7 Nut and Seed Butter: This is not just your average peanut butter! Made from chia and flax seeds and different kinds of nuts like almonds and cashews, my favorite snack is to pair this with an apple! On top, I sprinkle granola (one of my favorites is listed next).

Purely Elizabeth Ancient Grain Granola: My favorite granola and I cannot believe they sell it at Mac Mart – best with apples and peanut butter for a great study snack.

Le Gourmet:

Bobo’s Maple Pecan Oat Bar: This yummy bar made with organic oats and brown rice syrup is the perfect snack if you are craving something slightly sweet and filling.

CrunchMaster Multi-Seed Crackers: I have finally found the perfect healthy, yet crunchy cracker. It is made with whole grains with superfoods like quinoa and flax seeds, which are perfect for munching on.

Marich Chocolates: I have a guilty pleasure for chocolate and these make me feel better because they are actual blueberries dipped in dark chocolate!

Skinny Dipped Almonds: Another item which helps satisfy my sweet tooth are these chocolate dipped almonds, which are a great source of fiber and protein.

Homemade Trail Mix: Le Gourmet has all types of dried fruit such as: banana chips, mango slices, and cherries along with nuts like pistachios and almonds, so you can make your own trail mix by buying all of these ingredients and mixing them for a sweet and salty balance.

LBC:

Fresh fruit & nuts: the LBC offers an area by the check out with plenty of healthy fruits and packaged snacks – just make sure that you look at the calories and sugar content before buying!

Smoothies: Freshëns offers healthy smoothies filled with fruits and vegetables that can be a quick snack option for on-the-go (Also, Panera has 2 yummy smoothies as well…try the Green Power Passion Smoothie!)

Guac, Salsa, and Chips: Al Fuego has these as toppings for their burritos and burrito bowls, but you can ask for them with some chips for a flavorful snack.

Delivery: These Places Take Wavebucks!

D’Juice Fresh Fruit and Whole Fruit Smoothies: The healthiest option of all, this smoothie bar serves delicious juices, smoothies, and my favorite, the acai bowl (topped with tropical fruit and granola).

Fresco Café: This café delivers tons of yummy dips with pitas, which can get you through a late night of studying. Some other yummy and healthy snacks include the Mediterranean shrimp (sautéed in garlic, marinara sauce, and cheese), Spinach Salad (tomatoes, onions, walnuts, and balsamic vinaigrette), or the Fresco Salad (artichokes, cucumbers, and balsamic vinaigrette).

Jazmine Café: Delicious Vietnamese food that takes Wavebucks! They have millions of spring rolls and summer rolls, which can be amazing study snacks, and healthy too. Other yummy options include Crispy Tofu, Lemongrass Chicken Skewers, or Seaweed Salad.
