As a college student, taking care of myself is a top priority. Self-care looks different to everyone; for me, hitting the gym or going to a Romney class always makes me feel better and clears my head. However, getting regular manicures is also at the top of my self-care list. Having my nails done makes me feel cleaner, more put together, and helps me to avoid my terribly annoying nail-bitting habit in class.
Here in New Orleans, my favorite nail salon is Blanc Beauty Bar on Magazine. I’ve recently become addicted to getting gel manicures because they last longer, meaning fewer manicures and less nail-biting. Blanc is not your typical hole-in-the-wall nail salon. The full-service beauty salon is focused on supplying services and products to enhance clients’ physical appearance and mental relaxation, according to their mission statement. Blanc’s light, airy, and impeccably designed space is intended to help you leave your stress at the door and walk out feeling refreshed. If you’re looking for a spa-like experience for your manicure, Blanc is the place for you.
But, if getting a manicure is just another thing you have to check off your to-do list, then Cindy’s Nail & Spa, which is walking distance from campus, is another great option. Cindy’s is located on South Carrollton and is a more typical manicure experience and slightly cheaper than Blanc. I love going to Cindy’s when I’m in a hurry or when I need a manicure and pedicure to save a few dollars.
I also recently tried out Gloss Nails & Spa, located next to Camellia Grill, and did not enjoy my experience. The gel manicure lasted less than a week and my experience was underwhelming. The price of the manicure was also the same as Blanc’s!
Destress this weekend with a manicure!
