Matilda Djerf is the queen of 80’s blowouts and comfy minimalistic streetwear. After Djerf’s social media accounts took off due to her “clean it girl” European aesthetic and her ability to forecast trends, she created her fashion brand, Djerf Avenue, in 2019 with her boyfriend, Rasmus Johansson. Since its creation, the brand has made millions in sales, and people everywhere have adopted her vintage-inspired, effortless, yet chic look.
Matilda Djerf has a fantastic streetwear style, and her fashion sense has taken over my social media timeline. So, how can you achieve her style without draining your bank account? I will break down some of my favorite Matilda Djerf looks and provide cheaper alternatives to help you achieve her look for less!

Diving into look one, we have Matilda rocking a mismatched plaid print blazer with a gray sweater, light-wash baggy denim, Adidas sambas, and a black handbag. The simplicity of this outfit makes this look. While there is little color, all the pieces fit together seamlessly, creating this subtly effortless, fashionable look. The pieces in this picture are out of my college price range, so here is how I would recreate this look for less:

Shoes: Adidas Gazelle Shoes in Navy Blue $59.98
Sweater: H&M Gray Sweater $17.99
Blazer: Lulus Plaid Blazer $59
Tote: Anthropologie Black Tote $90
Denim: Levis From Amazon $59.99
So simple, yet such a cute outfit to wear to class or on a study date with friends!

Now onto look number two. Here, Matilda is wearing a chunky cable knit sweater with baggy canvas pants, black Birkenstocks Boston clogs, and a tan tote bag (not seen in the picture). You will find that many of the affordable alternatives I found are from H&M and L.L. Bean, so definitely check out their sites to find the best basics! Here is how I would recreate this look for less:

Shoes: Black Boston Birkenstocks $155 (This could be a great gift to add to your holiday wish list!)
Sweater: Chunky Sweater From H&M $29.99
Pants: L.L.Bean Canvas Pants $44.95
Tote: L.L.Bean Boat and Tote $34.95
This outfit is a comfortable alternative for studying with friends at a coffee shop or even while exploring the city in the fall!

Lastly, onto look number three – I saved the best for last. Here, Matilda displays her gift of layering; she coupled a vintage leather jacket with a cropped light blue zip-up underneath. She incorporated her staple mid-rise baggy light-wash denim as well. Finally, she tied the look together with the cutest Louis Vuitton monogram mini shoulder bag, and black Birkenstock Boston clogs. Here is how I would recreate this look for less:

Zip-Up: ASOS Baby Blue Zip-Up $44
Leather Jacket: Motel Rocks Leather Jacket $139 (Sold out right now, but I will be purchasing right when it is available!)
Denim: CottonOn Baggy Denim $59.99
Handbag: JW Pei Handbag $89 (Both colors can be found through this link. I could not decide, so I had to put both!)
This is my favorite one of Matilda’s looks by far. It is the perfect mix of edgy and classic. I would wear this to a casual lunch or dinner with friends or while out on the town!
Overall, I am obsessed with Matilda Djerf’s style and will continue to live vicariously through her Instagram. Matilda started a fashion revolution that continues to inspire many to shop intuitively and sustainably. In addition, she has created a capsule wardrobe of essentials that will last her a lifetime. With this wardrobe, she can make hundreds of looks with these minimalistic pieces. I cannot wait to see everyone rocking these looks on campus this fall!
