The ‘coastal grandma’ trend has been a recent hit on TikTok and quickly become a sense of style inspiration for many as they begin to build their summer wardrobe. The coined aesthetic features essential pieces that style someone to fit into the idyllic New England summer. It highlights muted colors, dainty jewelry, floral patterns, and so much more. Recently, my TikTok has been flooded with a different ‘coastal’ trend–the coastal cowgirl. This evolved coastal trend brings a Western spin on the New England summer trend that was once an obsession for many. Below I will highlight a few fun ways to achieve this ‘coastal cowgirl’ look yourself!
Cowboy Hat
A simple cowboy hat immediately makes any outfit fit this trend! There are so many simple and basic hats on Amazon that are pretty inexpensive and are a great first step at achieving this look! Many people have started wearing these hats at the beach instead of a trucker or other hats. Cowboy hats are a way to showcase both the coastal and cowgirl parts of this trend while also making for a cute Instagram picture!

Cowgirl Boots
Similar to the cowboy hat, this item instantly brings this trend to life. All the chosen pieces are about finding the perfect balance between coastal and Western themes. A pair in a lighter pastel color would also elevate this and bring in the coastal look a bit more! Some good brands to look into for cowboy boots are Ganni, Altar’d State, Amazon, and Tecovas.

Light Denim
Denim is definitely a more accessible option to incorporate since most of us usually have a lighter-wash pair of denim jeans or jean shorts! Also, a denim mini or maxi skirt, dress, or overalls is a fun way to elevate your look and make it more feminine. Pairing your denim with white cowboy boots and other light-colored accessories can help finalize the perfect ‘coastal cowgirl’ combination.

Navy Blue
For some reason, the color navy seems like the epitome of an east coast summer and emphasizes the coastal aspect of this trend. Finding ways to add navy, whether it be a navy bikini, top, dress, or skirt, helps tie the trend together, especially when paired with white and other lighter colors.

The coastal cowgirl look is a fun spin on the coastal grandma trend and is a fun way to approach your summer wardrobe and beach days! It’s something that you can quickly achieve with versatile items you probably already have in your closet, making it more convenient since you don’t have to buy many new things.
