It’s a new school year, and you’re growing tired of the same five artists playing on repeat from the summer. Don’t get me wrong, Drake will never get old; but there is no better feeling than when your friends beg YOU to aux because you are the one that knows the hot new artists before everyone else. Here are four artists that you should add to your playlists ASAP because before you know it, they will be on everyones.
1. Charlotte Lawrence
You might recognize the name Charlotte Lawrence as the daughter of famous parents Christa Miller and Bill Lawrence, or maybe you know her as the IMG model that is trending on Instagram. But recently, this 18-year-old created a new name for herself through her music. In 2018, her first album “Young” quickly produced several viral hits, and a couple of weeks ago her new single “Stole Your Car” was released. Lawrence’s music is relatable and accurately reflects the complicated life of a teenager. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year will bring for her.
2. Juice WRLD
This year, the name Juice WRLD came out of nowhere, and rap fans are glad that it did. Juice WRLD used his difficult childhood as inspiration to start his music career in high school with nothing but his voice and SoundCloud. This year, he released his first official album, “Goodbye & Good Riddance.” Two of the most notable songs on the album are “Lucid Dreams” and “All Girls Are The Same,” both of which are emotional and authentic. At just 19 years old, Juice WRLD has built an incredible fan base and is already appearing on the top charts.
3. Taylor Bennett
I am sure you have heard the name Chance the Rapper, because well, who hasn’t? But have you heard of his brother, Taylor Bennett? Bennett has been producing music for a while now, and this year his name is finally starting to gain recognition, especially after his upbeat single “Be Yourself” was released this summer. The best part about it: his voice sounds JUST like Chance’s. So if you’re a Chance fan, as you should be, you will definitely be a Taylor Bennett fan too.
4. King Princess
On March 6, 2018, Harry Styles tweeted King Princess’ lyric “I love it when we play 1950.” Ever since then, more and more people are starting to realize how incredible this pop singer really is. Not only is she talented, but also she strives to empower gay teenagers just like herself. This summer, her first album “Make My Bed” was released, and people quickly fell in love with her genuine lyrics and beautiful voice. Her fame came fast and isn’t slowing down; before we know it, everyone will know and love this new pop icon.
All four of these artists have already had such a successful year, and it is obvious that their careers are just getting started. If you want to stay on top of your music game, you should definitely check them out.
