After 14 years, the dually infamous and beloved show Keeping Up With The Kardashians is set to end. On September 8, Kim posted a photo on her Instagram revealing the heartbreaking news that despite 20 seasons and countless spinoffs, the reality show will be coming to a close.
“Without Keeping Up with The Kardashians, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I am so incredibly grateful to everyone who has watched and supported me and my family these past 14 incredible years. This show made us who we are and I will forever be in debt to everyone who played a role in shaping our careers and changing our lives forever” Kim writes as part of her caption, highlighting the tremendous role the reality show has played in the family’s personal and professional lives. Since 2007, we have watched the Kardashians interact as a family, get married and divorced, have kids, and most of all build their empire.
If you’re like me, saying goodbye to the Kardashians is almost unthinkable after years of watching the family on TV and getting an inside glimpse into their lives. From its early seasons, the Kardashian family took the world by storm as Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, Kendall, and Kylie navigated the early stages of their rising fame. Before the show, the Kardashians were primarily famous for their father, Robert Kardashian the lawyer and best friend of OJ Simpson, and their Olympian step-father Bruce Jenner. Throughout the 14 years of the show, the entire Kardashian-Jenner family have become some of the world’s most recognizable celebrities, each with their own businesses and careers. Now, after starting multiple brands, being featured on the world’s most noteworthy magazines, and dominating the realm of social media, the five Kardashian- Jenner girls have infiltrated the public eye far beyond the world of Keeping Up with The Kardashians.
From family drama, fabulous vacations, and countless iconic moments, the Kardashians have become a cultural phenomenon for our generation. Some of the most iconic Kardashian moments include: Kim crying after losing her diamond earring in the ocean, Kylie confusing a pig for a chicken, Kim taking selfies as Khloe is on the way to jail, Kim screaming “Don’t be f*cking rude” as she hits Khloe and Kourtney with her purse, as well as countless others. Regardless of if you have watched every episode of the show or only a few here and there, it’s almost impossible to not be able to recognize these iconic and hilarious Kardashian moments.
It is still a little unclear why Keeping Up with the Kardashians will be ending after this upcoming season; however, after years in the spotlight, it is understandable how the Kardashian family would want their children to be able to grow up without the show documenting their lives. Kanye in particular has been adamant about wanting his and Kim’s children to not be included in the show’s filming, in terms of privacy. Additionally, Kourtney expressed her wishes to leave the show, in the hopes of escaping the show’s “toxic environment” and a desire to gain more privacy in her personal life. Furthermore, as each of the Kardashian-Jenner members has their own crazy schedule and business projects carving out time to film the show is not as easy as it once was. It will be a sad closing to an amazing chapter in the Kardashian-Jenner’s lives as well as for the millions of fans of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
