A laugh that could knock a crowd off its feet, with hair that could suffocate someone’s cigarette. She pushes jokes to the line that shall not be crossed, but on the other side is her own personal Barbie world. She’s the girl who doesn’t know when to back down and puts her all into what she wants. She’s labeled aggressive and annoying, too embarrassing to be seen on a date with. She’s loud, comedic, and makes her presence known. If she were a man, she’d be called “the average man,” but to the dating world and society, she’s an outrageous woman.

We have titled this breed of women as ‘a good hang,’ never to be thought of as the desirable, sexy woman. My question is: But why? They are seen as the comedic relief in male-female relationships, not depicted as anything more. Some men will defend these women with their lives in an argument about their friendship, saying, “She’s my girl.” However, if we were to switch the context, for example, if a man were accused of having a crush on this girl, he’d say, “What! No, she’s ugly; that’s so embarrassing.” Given the reward of friendship for her talented comedic comments, pushing edge jokes, and for being the life of the party, she is belittled by men for being her authentic self. When a girl chooses to be her true self, she’s no longer the picture-perfect girl to society; no longer labeled as the ideal woman.

I’d like to make a note that a Google search of Outrageous Women online won’t show you murderers or criminals, but girls studying, athletes, and historical figures. Go look it up yourself.

We have placed women in the dating world into categories. To be tamed and quiet, a life with no problems, and dressed in the exact middle area between conservative and slutty for every occasion. The truth is, this woman does not actually exist. Society sees women for how they show themselves to the world, with either physical features or wife-like qualities. When it becomes anything more, it’s too much to handle. There is no such thing as a girl with zero problems, but many choose to keep those problems hushed in order to become the ‘ideal woman’ that society has painted. Once a woman shows her real self, full of complex issues, raunchy jokes, fashionable outfits, and goal-oriented motivation; she becomes an outrageous woman.

This isn’t to say that outrageous women aren’t inherently attractive; this is to say that once a woman doesn’t follow the list of what makes her ‘wifey-material,’ she is perceived differently in the dating world. It’s always about: Can she cook? Can she be a good mom? Can she fit in with my friends? What about can she make me laugh? It comes from intimidation, competition, and ego in relationships; the power of success. If being talented, successful, motivated, loud, funny, and stunning makes a girl outrageous, my wish is to be the most insane girl I can be.
