Attention, Tulane students! As winter rolls in, it’s time to get fired up and support our Green Wave basketball team! Just like we’ve thrown ourselves into the exhilarating spirit of being a “football school,” let’s channel that same energy into the basketball season. Our men’s basketball team, currently ranked 11th in the preseason AAC coaches poll, may be seen as the underdog, but don’t let that fool you—there’s incredible potential bursting from this squad! With a lineup packed with fresh talent and enthusiastic transfers, head coach Ron Hunter is geared up for his sixth season at Tulane, and it’s shaping up to be one for the books! Let’s show our Wave pride and make some noise in the stands!

Coach Hunter and his new staff (including his son, RJ Hunter) are bringing some serious talent to the court. Nine new players, each with unique backgrounds and a hunger to prove themselves, have joined the squad, including power conference transfers like Tyler Ringgold (Texas A&M), Kaleb Banks (Indiana), and Mari Jordan (Georgia). In the backcourt, Rowan Brumbaugh from Georgetown and Michael Eley from Siena bring solid experience and stats that give Green Wave fans real hope for a strong offensive season.

While these players might be new to Tulane, proving the AAC wrong as an underdog isn’t new to us at all. Just as Tulane football shocked the nation with an unforgettable win against USC in the Cotton Bowl 2022, Tulane’s Green Wave basketball team can defy the odds and create its legacy with our support.

Tulane has been underestimated in the sports world for years. However, thanks to our unwavering student support and determination, we became AAC champions, won the Cotton Bowl, and established ourselves as a formidable presence on the field. The vibrant energy that lights up the stands at Yulman Stadium can ignite an electric atmosphere at Devlin Fieldhouse during basketball season, reminding our players that they are united in their mission to elevate Tulane basketball to new heights.

With seven games to be televised on ESPN, Tulane’s basketball team can show the nation what Tulane is all about. Imagine Devlin Fieldhouse packed, the sounds of cheers echoing, and the thrill of March Madness on campus. This season isn’t about rankings or critics’ opinions—it’s about coming together and igniting a fire that will make basketball another unforgettable part of college life at Tulane.

Let’s embrace our Green Wave pride and tackle this season with determination. With the explosive talent of Brumbaugh and Eley and the promising growth of our young transfers, excitement is in the air. We’ve already made a significant impact in football; now it’s time to channel that underdog spirit onto the basketball court!
