Out with the old, in with the new! Say goodbye to rave this Mardi Gras and welcome high fashion, faux furs, lace, bows, and everything in between! This year, we are steering away from neons, fish nets, and rhinestones. 2024 Tulane Mardi Gras will look a little different. Here are the vibes we predict for this year’sTulane Mardi Gras:

Coachella/western chic/indie
Rather than channeling EDC this Mardi Gras, let’s channel Coachella. Western chic will be in full swing this year. This means lots of western belts, tons of body chains, mismatched jewelry, sequin crochet, pashminas, lace, scarves, and beaded accessories. The options are endless with this one. Neutral tones are key for this vibe, playing with color as an accent works too! In this case, less is not more. Load up on accessories to achieve this eclectic vibe. For this style specifically, the thrift store is a great place to find some unique pieces. Not only is this a more sustainable way to shop, but also easier on the wallet. Whether it be a lace maxi skirt paired with a beaded bra and body chains or a sequin crochet dress and pashmina, you’re sure to rock this style in your own special way.

Cheetah and furs
Mardi just got wild! Animal prints and furs have become the latest fashion craze as the “mob wife” tiktok trend, inspired by The Soprano’s 25th anniversary, blew up this winter. Think apres ski but make it edgier. This aesthetic is centered around 90’s fashion with a blend of sexy, bold, luxurious, glamore. We’ll be seeing lots of faux fur coats, extra points if it’s animal print fur, statement gold jewlery, leather, all black everything with red accents, diamonds, and animal prints, specifically cheetah. Accessorize any plain outfit with layered, statement jewelry, throw on an oversized fur coat and some big sunglasses and you’re good to go! This style exudes confidence and screams high fashion while remaining edgy and dark.

Coquette
For all the pink and bow lovers, this one’s for you! This year outfits may be a bit softer than in the past. Much of the inspiration behind this vibe comes from the coquette and “Me if you even care” trends that blew up around Halloween, as many went as Marie Antoinette. These trends will surely translate into Mardi fashion. Coquette is all about dreamy, girly, fantasy. Expect to see baby pink, lace catsuits, ribbons galore, bloomers, and rose details. This specific aesthetic can be brought to life in so many different ways. Opt for lace tights over fishnets to add a touch of softness to a rather edgy outfit. It could even be as simple as tying bows in your hair. The options are endless. Think For Love and Lemons as the blueprint. Very whimsical with a touch of vintage romance.
Tulane Mardi 2024 is just around the corner so play around with all the latest trends! Feel free to mix and match different elements of juxtiposing vibes to create some of the sickest outfits yet. Or go crazy and do something completely different everyday! After all we have six days worth of outfits, its like our very own fashion show. Broadway is our runway. We hope you were able to find a look best fit for you. Happy Mardi!!!!
