Happy Holidays! You know what time it is: gift-giving season! There is nothing better than giving and receiving a fun gift as a token of appreciation. Specifically, one from a small business (yay! ethical gifting!). Unfortunately, it is easy to find yourself stumped when it comes to ideas. Fear not- this guide has got you covered. Here’s a list of some of my favorite online small businesses and some of their products that would make amazing gifts, as well as a couple of pro-tips for gift giving!

Chunks

This fun and fresh small business stays true to its name and sells many adorable, fun, and chunky hair clips that are very trendy and make amazing gifts. Chunks “is WOC owned, female operated, consciously designed, and responsibly made.” Here’s a way to lift up your hair – small biz style!

PRO TIP #1: If you are unsure what someone wants but still want your gift to be personal, a gift card/certificate to one of these stores (or any store, really) that matches their vibes is a quick and easy way to give them a gift and introduce them to a cool small business!

Hoes for Clothes

Hoes for Clothes is a personal favorite of mine- it is run by Sasha Tarnovsky and Andrew Burror. They design, digitize, and produce every piece. They sell a variety of apparel that have sweet and spicy slogans and designs with options for customization. Having been a customer, I can attest that the quality is excellent and worth the money. They are constantly coming out with new designs and variations so be sure to keep up via their socials!

Ardent Candle https://ardentcandle.com/

Are you like me and have seen those cereal candles all over your Tik Tok For You Page? Well, the small business Ardent Candle is responsible for these charming creations! Ardent Candle was started by Koby Lomax in his family’s home, and  progressed with him as he went off to college, and later into a full-fledged online business. The candles are high quality, and the business is eco-conscious because they “use a clean burning soy-blend wax, and work directly with their (our) fragrance manufacturer to create safe, non-toxic, earth-friendly, aromatic scents that fill a room.” Ardent Candle also promotes sustainability by ensuring that the “bowls, spoons and glass are all reusable, and their (our) packing peanuts and shipping boxes are biodegradable and recyclable.” Though not exactly dorm-friendly when lit (extra-perfect for juniors and seniors), these candles make great decor and are conversation starters.

PRO TIP #2: Buy your gifts sooner rather than later!!! I CAN NOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!!! Not only will it be relieving to finish your shopping earlier than later, but small businesses often take time to produce high-quality products- so account for that in your holiday timeline!

Wavey Casa https://waveycasa.com/

A pop of color never hurt anyone! You can purchase their products directly online or through their stockists. Be sure to check it out!
