It’s Sunday morning: you wake up a little hungover, piecing together what happened last night, thinking about your psych exam tomorrow that you need to study for, and overall questioning your existence in that very moment. This is the infamous tale of the “Sunday scaries.” We have all been there, no elaboration needed. Here are five tips to help you conquer that Sunday feeling.

1. Eat a Solid Breakfast

This first step is SO important to starting off the day right. You need sustenance to refuel your system after a long night out and for a long day ahead. But who says your road to recovery can’t taste delicious? Avocado toast is one of my breakfast go-tos, packed with tons of nutrients such as healthy fats and potassium, which are great when combating fatigue and dizziness. Along with the nutrients from the avocado, toast contains fiber, which is great for helping your body get rid of any unwanted toxins. Another great option is oatmeal. It may sound boring, but when you top it with your favorite berries, peanut butter, and sweetener, you have yourself an ideal breakfast full of vitamins, antioxidants, fiber, and even protein! Lastly, drop the coffee and Gatorade you normally reach for and grab a bottle of coconut water. Coconut water is one of my absolute favorite drinks, especially when I am hungover. It is significantly higher in electrolytes than any sports drink and will give you the energy you need to start your day. My favorite brand is Harmless Harvest Coconut Water; it tastes amazing while keeping you hydrated throughout a busy day!

2. Organize Your Life

My favorite way of making sure my day is as productive as possible is by making a to-do list. For me, lists are necessary for mental organization and ensuring that I get everything done. Your to-do list can include anything from homework, to meetings, to laundry, to dinner plans, etc. This is a simple yet effective step for making sure you get your work done, stay organized, and get you back on track for the week. You can find journals and notepads that make this process more fun at places like Amazon, Urban Outfitters, and Anthropologie.

3. Exercise

I know, I know. Getting up and going to the gym is probably the last thing you want to do on any given Sunday, but I promise it will make huge difference in your day. Exercise releases endorphins in your brain and will not only put you in a great mood, but will also give you continuous energy throughout the day to get everything done. It is important to be good to your body and sweat everything out, especially after a long weekend.

4. Pamper Yourself

This step is often forgotten about, but it is essential to have some time to yourself. One of my favorite ways to pamper myself is by taking a long shower and following up with a face mask. 5. Hang Out With Friends

For me, this may be the most crucial step in conquering the Sunday scaries. Nothing is better than catching up and relaxing with you best friends after a crazy weekend to help you feel your best! These are experiences that you will carry with you for the rest of your life, so don’t be so hard on yourself when you feel the scaries approaching. Don’t forget, it is just as important to spend time with people who make you feel good as it is to be able to check off everything on your to-do list.
