Halloween is my favorite holiday. I love spooky movies, pumpkin patches, and haunted houses. But honestly, when the season finally rolls around, I spend more time worrying about how to make it perfect than I do experiencing it. I always find myself two weeks before Halloween with no movies watched, no caramel apples eaten, only one pumpkin candle to my name, and most importantly: no Halloween costume. Of course, I have my ideas, but the reasonably priced amazon window has long closed, and I am left stranded and tearing apart my closet on Halloween night.
I have come to the realization that I will never be able to fight my disorganized nature and have all my costumes ordered in April, so instead I will plan ahead, and create a list of costumes I can pull together with clothes I already own. Now, without further ado, here are five respectable and reasonably cute Halloween costumes everyone already has.
- Elena Gilbert and Bella Swan
Yes, these are some of the most annoying tv characters, but unfortunately also the easiest costumes to throw together.
Elena: low rise flare jeans, lace henley top (or a henley with a lace cami layered underneath), understated sneakers, statement pendant, straightened hair.
Bella: low rise flare jeans, t-shirt or tank top, understated sneakers, light jacket or zip up. 2. Witch without a hat. Think “Charmed or Sabrina:”
Purple and black color scheme, antique silver jewelry, smokey eye.
- Lorelai Gilmore, my style icon:
Option 1: low rise midi skirt, long sleeve, tight fitting sweater, boots, half up half down hair (this will probably look crazy on Halloween; so very, very plan z).
Option 2: Her pilot episode outfit–jean shorts, boots, pink tie dye t-shirt.
- Dorothy:
Anything blue gingham and two braids tied with red ribbon.
- A vampire cosplaying human, because I don’t have the money to buy fake fangs or blood: Red and black color scheme, antique jewelry, red and purple eyeshadow.
I know, I know, we’ll all just end up stealing an extra pair of ears from someone and being black cats, but this was worth a shot.
