Picture it: you’re spending a day unwinding and studying for midterms at Spyre Wellness Center. You take a 30-minute yoga class, relax in the infrared sauna, and take a plunge in the outdoor pool. After a quick shower, you set up your study space either at an outside table or in their cafe, where you can grab a meal like their miso noodles and coconut matcha energy balls. Maybe you’ll end your visit with a massage or at the labyrinth for some walking meditation.

The coming months are about to be busy. With Mardi Gras, spring break, and midterms all on the horizon, we’re all about to put ourselves through a whole lot of work and play – well, maybe more play. What’s needed in times like these is an escape: from campus, from hangxiety, from however many late-night slices of Boot pizza you may have consumed. When you need a reset by all means of the word, head to Spyre.

In a unique structure that was originally a Norwegian church, Spyre is a wellness center you can walk into and enjoy a few hours of true relaxation. For $30, you can use their infrared sauna to sweat out the Mardi Gras toxins.

For $25 you can enjoy a full day at the pool, with freedom to swim laps in a private lane and places to lie in the sun.

There’s a small gym, yoga studio, stretch room, and cafe, with outdoor seating nestled in nature.

You can find Spyre at 1772 Prytania Street, just a quick drive from campus. However you spend your time there, you’ll be thanking yourself for the much-needed reset.
