If you’re like me, your ideal study spot is a cozy-coffee shop with fun drinks, a great vibe, and just enough background buzz to keep you focused. Look no further, and head to Trumpet & Drum Coffee House on Magazine Street, open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day. Whether you’re looking to get some steps in and walk the 2.1 miles from campus (~1 hour) or prefer a quick 9 minute drive, you will not be disappointed.

As you walk up, you’ll see a porch right in front that has outdoor seating perfect for studying on a cool, sunny day. You can also opt to sit outside on the back patio for more of a social environment. The coffee house’s placement on Magazine offers the ideal amount of traffic while also having a secluded area to focus.

Step inside and you are transported into what feels like an old library vibe, complete with open space, vintage-style decor, and the smell of roasted coffee and freshly baked pastries. There is a mix of spacious seating, from armchairs to quiet corners in back rooms, to long communal tables.

The menu boasts their signature drinks like the Chicory Cream Cold Brew, Earl Grey Matcha, and Honey Matcha Lemonade alongside other classics. Additionally, they offer an amazing fall menu that includes a Spiced Cider, a Pumpkin Spice Latte, and a Sweet Potato Pie Cold Brew. Their menu also features seasonal pastries from local shops such as a chai scone, various muffins, and a banana bread loaf. Recently they have expanded their menu to include lunch sandwiches, highlighting a Brie & Prosciutto sandwich on a baguette, and a 4 cheese Grilled Cheese.

On my visit , I got the Banana Bread Matcha Latte, the Apple Cider Chai, (both from the Fall Special Menu) and an Iced Vanilla Latte with Cinnamon. As my friend and I tried each of them, they exceeded our expectations. The fall flavors were amazing and truly tasted like their descriptions leading to our 10/10 ratings.

Beyond the drinks and food, they also have fun events such as the Mardi Gras Market, Open Mic Nights, Craft Nights, and Book Clubs. These events make the space feel even more like a community and truly make the coffee shop incredible.

Whether you are looking for a place to finish up a big essay, catch up on textbook readings, try a new fun drink, or explore a new location, Trumpet & Drum creates the kind of vibe that makes studying feel a little bit more enjoyable.
