It’s Monday morning. The sun is shining glaringly bright, your alarm is going off at the ungodly hour of 7:00 am, and the hangover…well, it definitely has not gone away. It’s in these desperate moments that we feel no motivation to make sure we look cute for class. But should we settle for just a boring pair of sweats? Absolutely not. It’s time to rise up.
I’ve taken it upon myself to help you all out by providing easy and accessible ways to elevate your everyday basic college wear. Although there are multiple ways to glamorize an outfit, my three favorite ways to ensure I look presentable are having some jewelry on, wearing a nice shirt, and making sure I have some good accessories on at all times.
Jewelry:
The first step in making your outfit more chic is wearing nice jewelry. Even if you do decide to put on a pair of sweats, sometimes just the smallest hoops can add some oomph to an otherwise sluggish outfit. The best part? It’s super easy and takes about three seconds to put them on.
I normally always put on a pair of earrings, but sometimes I decide to go a step further and wear an arm cuff or a bracelet as well. I often find that adding these elements to my outfit helps me feel more ready for the day and, most importantly, more stylish.
Whether you are a gold or silver girl, a little sparkle will never hurt anyone! So what are you waiting for? Search through your drawers; it’s time to find your everyday jewelry essentials.
Wear a Presentable Shirt:
Another thing that I find extremely helpful in leveling up my outfits is making sure my tops are always A+. That way, even if you are wearing sweatpants or even a pair of basic jeans, your top will still make you look cool and collected. Even on the most gloomy of days, wearing a nice shirt will do the work for you.
Some of my favorite types of shirts include baby tees, halter tops, and tube tops. I find that wearing these kinds of shirts rather than a standard tee can genuinely make an outfit pop.
Accessories:
Accessories, accessories, accessories…did I mention accessories? I really do think accessories may be the most essential part of an outfit; it’s the solo factor that can really make or break it. When you are wearing jeans, and something feels missing, what do you do? Add a stylish belt or chain. Having a bad hair day? Wear sunglasses. Think your hands are looking a bit basic? Stack on those rings. There are many different types of accessories you can use to spice up your basic college outfit, and I highly recommend using them if you are looking to elevate the sweats.
One of my favorite types of accessories to pull out to make my college fit seem more stylish is making sure I have a cool bag to carry my stuff in. I always go for the classic vintage black bag with gold buckles, but even the classic LongChamp will suffice.
These three tips are honestly great ways to make sure you are showing up to class looking cute and ready to go. So, next time you feel inspired to look extra stylish, give one of these tricks a try!
