If you’re looking for a fun way to celebrate Black History Month, or if you are just looking for an addictive page-turner, then you should check out The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett. If you’re looking for a book to get back into reading, The Vanishing Half is the perfect fast-paced, entertaining novel to pick up.

The Vanishing Half tells the story of the Vignes twins, Desiree and Stella, and their attempt to escape their small, racially-obsessed town. However, Desiree and Stella’s relationship is put to the test when Stella decides to leave her past behind her and pass for white. We see how the twins’ different racial identities lead them into separate communities and livelihoods, while also putting their family ties to the test. The story shows how Stella’s passing has affected generations of the Vignes family.
