If you’re looking for a book to get back into reading, <em>The Vanishing Half</em> is the perfect fast-paced, entertaining novel to pick up.</p>
<p><em>The Vanishing Half</em> tells the story of the Vignes twins, Desiree and Stella, and their attempt to escape their small, racially-obsessed town. However, Desiree and Stella’s relationship is put to the test when Stella decides to leave her past behind her and pass for white. We see how the twins&#8217; different racial identities lead them into separate communities and livelihoods, while also putting their family ties to the test. The story shows how Stella’s passing has affected generations of the Vignes family.</p>

<p>Throughout the novel, the reader can learn about how the characters are treated based on their race and how people of different races navigate the world.<em> The Vanishing Half</em> is Brit Bennett’s second novel, following her debut novel <em>The Mothers</em>, both of which have appeared on <em>The New York Times</em> Bestseller List.
