<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Happy March and welcome to the first ever</span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Letter from the Editor</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"> here at the Crescent Magazine. So often we have things happening behind the scenes that our general readers never get a chance to see, so this is our attempt to bridge the gap. As the current Editor-In-Chief, I believe it is important to highlight the hard work our writers put into their pieces every article cycle, and there has never been a better time to make that happen. </span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Last month we had numerous articles regarding Mardi Gras– for example, Disha Amin’s </span><a href="https://tulanemagazine.com/mardi-trends-youll-be-seeing-in-2023/"><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Mardi Trends You’ll be Seeing in 2023</span></i></a> <span style="font-weight: 400;">ended up being more of a prophecy rather than a prediction. I found myself looking around and seeing my peers in exactly what Disha had written about, including the “</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Après Ski” trend and the “Clean Girl Goes Rave” aesthetic. </span></p>
<figure id="attachment_13111" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-13111" style="width: 269px" class="wp-caption alignleft"><a href="http://tulanemagazine.com/the-history-of-mardi-gras-fashion/"><img class=" wp-image-13111" src="https://tulanemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/Screen-Shot-2023-02-15-at-10.47.32-AM.png" alt="" width="269" height="199" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-13111" class="wp-caption-text">Click here to read Ana Gonzalez&#8217;s article &#8220;The History of Mardi Gras Fashion&#8221;.</figcaption></figure>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">We also had Ana Gonzalez’s piece </span><a href="https://tulanemagazine.com/the-history-of-mardi-gras-fashion/"><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">The History of Mardi Gras Fashion</span></i></a><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">, </span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">which took us through the long (and at times exclusionary) story of Mardi Gras’ signature purple, green, and gold. This city truly goes all out for the celebration, and Ana’s article is a wonderful look into the traditions. </span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">We also had Lila Mago’s extremely timely article, </span><a href="https://tulanemagazine.com/self-care-at-tulane/"><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Self Care at Tulane</span></i></a><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"> In my opinion, there is never a better time to reset and check in on yourself than the period after Mardi Gras leading up to Spring Break. Lila provides resources, tips, and tricks to help you take care of yourself during the second half of the semester. Summer can’t come soon enough. </span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">While we all sit around and long for summer, Sidney Logan provides us with </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">A </span></i><a href="https://tulanemagazine.com/a-beginners-guide-to-self-tan/"><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Beginner’s Guide to Self Tan</span></i></a><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">, </span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">an extensive walk through on how to get that sun kissed glow without damaging your skin… and without looking completely orange in the process. Who knew there were so many different ways to tan? Sidney did, of course, and we are so happy that she is sharing her secrets. </span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Everyone who lives in New Orleans knows that the Spring season can bring some strange weather, and with that, your hair can start to feel damaged and in need of some TLC. Both Dani Weinstein and Morgan Gurtz wrote articles regarding taking care of your hair, which was desperately needed. Dani’s article, </span><a href="https://tulanemagazine.com/dont-despair-repair-your-hair/"><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Don’t Despair, Repair your Hair!</span></i></a><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">, </span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">provides recommendations for numerous hair products, with each section focusing on a different problem. From heat damage to a lack of volume, Dani knows just the solution. Morgan’s article, </span><a href="https://tulanemagazine.com/healthy-and-bleached-blonde-hair-is-both-possible/"><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Healthy and Bleached Blonde Hair… Is Both Possible?</span></i></a><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">, </span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">gives us some great options for color damaged hair and how to prevent that damage in the first place. </span></p>
<figure id="attachment_13294" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-13294" style="width: 254px" class="wp-caption alignleft"><a href="http://tulanemagazine.com/healthy-and-bleached-blonde-hair-is-both-possible/"><img class=" wp-image-13294" src="https://tulanemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/IMG_8692.jpg" alt="" width="254" height="190" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-13294" class="wp-caption-text">Click here to read Morgan Gurtz&#8217;s article &#8220;Healthy and Bleached Blonde Hair&#8230; Is Both Possible?&#8221;</figcaption></figure>
<p>Lastly, we round out this article cycle with Lucie Jain&#8217;s thoughtfully written article, <em><a href="https://tulanemagazine.com/suitcase-at-home/">Suitcase at Home</a>. </em>Lucie puts into words a feeling that we have all had as young adults in college, not quite grown up, but also not children anymore. What happens when we go home, but we are guests in our own rooms? Anyone dealing with these complex feelings should give this wonderful article a read.</p>
<figure id="attachment_13309" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-13309" style="width: 283px" class="wp-caption alignright"><a href="http://tulanemagazine.com/suitcase-at-home/"><img class="wp-image-13309" src="https://tulanemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/IMG_8685.jpg" alt="" width="283" height="212" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-13309" class="wp-caption-text">Click here to read Lucie Jain&#8217;s article &#8220;Suitcase at Home&#8221;.</figcaption></figure>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">March will be full of some great new articles that I hope you will enjoy as much as I do. Be sure to keep an eye out for a possible physical Zine version of the Crescent, hopefully coming soon! Roll Wave!</span></p>
