Prepping for the start of my internship this summer, I felt completely lost in the wardrobe department. Working for a fashion and tech start-up, I knew I had to look cute every day, but I also wanted to make sure that I was office-appropriate and business-ish enough. Dressing for a summer internship can be difficult, especially if your office requires you to wear business professional every day. I began to scroll through on Zara, Shopbop, Revolve, and more of my favorite online retailers for inspo. I added a few new staples to my wardrobe, but I also found that I could incorporate a lot of pieces I already had in my closet into my work outfits. These are some of my favorite picks for cute office attire if you are struggling with what to wear to work!

This blazer from Revolve by the brand Majorelle is the perfect statement piece in a work outfit. I would pair it with a white t-shirt or button down (depending on your office’s dress code) with a pair of black pants or Levi’s for a more relaxed look. A blazer is an amazing item to invest in because you can wear it all summer to work as well as out with friends or family for dinner.

Intermix

I’m obsessed with these pants from Intermix! They are a trendy take on the classic black trouser. You can pair them with pretty much any blouse, flats, or heels, and show off your fashion sense while still looking professional.

Zara

Work shoes are often super boring and not cute, but Zara has a great selection of loafers, mules, and flats that are trendy enough to be worn every day and are also office appropriate. I love these red loafers because they will spice up any outfit.

ASOS

Lastly, I love this striped button-down from ASOS; they have a great variety of work appropriate tops. The clean lines of this shirt are perfect for the office, but would also look cute tucked into a pair of jeans or cut offs on the weekend.

P.S.: here are some little fashion tips I’ve learned since starting my internship!

Always bring a jacket or sweater because most offices are really air-conditioned in the summer.

Don’t over accessorize; excess jewelry can be distracting to getting your work done and less is always more (especially for work!)

Put your own spin on everything! Work clothing doesn’t need to be boring. Don’t be afraid to wear a printed button-down or blouse instead of a plain white one.

Wear what you’re comfortable in. You won’t be able to focus if you are uncomfortable in your outfit or fidgeting with it all day.

Happy shopping!
