<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Surprisingly, there was an actual benefit to my time spent at home scrolling on my phone during the pandemic. I finally downloaded my holy grail, the light of my life, the app to end all apps: Pinterest. Many of my redundant Covid days were spent on Pinterest, learning its algorithm as well as my own likes and dislikes. I love how Pinterest doesn’t act like other social media apps, minimizing the pressure to conform to what the people you know are wearing and doing. It’s significantly more personal than the other social media apps that we use. For many people, Pinterest acts as an outlet for creativity and self-expression, as well as a way to learn more about what they are interested in stylistically. From the fast-paced (and, quite frankly, horrific) trends of 2020 to the carefully curated outfit board I currently have, Pinterest has been my best friend throughout my fashion journey.</span></p>

<p><b>Polka Dots Please! </b></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A current trend I’m obsessed with is polka dots on everything. They’re on clothes, nails, shoes, and bags; polka dots are everywhere right now. The print is a mix of classy and fun, and can be dressed up or dressed down depending on the event. I find them to be flattering, unique, and beyond cool. They bring an air of 1960s mod style to the twenty-first-century fashionista, which leads me to believe that they aren’t just a fad in the sea of trends we are constantly bombarded by. We’ll see if polka dots stand the test of time, or if they’re just another trend rolling through. I don’t currently own any polka dot-laden attire, but Pinterest has opened my eyes to the dotted world before me.</span></p>

<p><b>Make it a Mini</b></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In the wise words of Paris Hilton, skirts should be the size of a belt. There&#8217;s truly no better feeling than scouring the thrift store and finally hitting the mini skirt jackpot or having hundreds of unique options at your fingertips on Depop. Whether it’s a simple black mini for going out (bonus points if there are shorts attached), a casual denim skirt for class, or an eye-catching statement piece, the mini skirt should be a staple in every closet. Out of everything I’ll spend my hard-earned on-campus job money on, I find that mini skirts are what I purchase the most. When my roommate asks to borrow one for wherever she’s headed on a night out, I feel a deep sense of accomplishment. Life’s short, take risks!</span></p>

<p><b>These Boots were Made for Walking&#8211;or Not</b></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">What’s better than stomping around town in your favorite boots? From the highest of high-heeled stilettos to something more Frye-esque, I always want to have boots on. I don’t care how uncomfortable they are, even when my feet feel like they’re falling apart at the end of the night during my long walk to River, because the elevation of my outfit that comes along with them makes the pain worth it. There is a boot for every occasion, especially at Tulane. Football game, darty, Bourbon excursion, you name it&#8211;if the event exists then you better believe that there will be boots involved. One of my main personal style goals is to beef up my boot collection with more unique options, as well as high-quality classics that will last me a lifetime. If my future children fight over who gets to steal which pair out of my extensive boot collection, I did something right. </span></p>

<p><b>Living in Linen </b></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As warmer weather approaches us fast, we’ll start to lean toward light and breathable fabrics. Linens have been the truth during the hot weather months for centuries, and for good reason. When you wear linens, comfort, and style, become one entity. Light, breathable, comfortable, and gorgeous; a linen dress, pants, or skirt is key for surviving the sweat and heat of summer. The fabric in and of itself is one of true elegance and femininity, flowing freely in the warm summer breeze. I love how natural the fabric feels, and how we wear it uncaring of its wrinkles and imperfections. Shockingly I don’t actually own many linen pieces, but the last time I opened Pinterest I saw those gorgeous pants pictured above; and I knew I had to get on my linen game.</span></p>

<p><b>Tights are a Must (Even Though They’ll Rip on First Wear)</b></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Sadly, my favorite pair of high-shine black tights ripped above the knee one fateful night at the Rabbit Hole. Regardless, I’m buying another of the exact same pair. Why? Because tights are that serious to me. I love to layer them under my shorts and aforementioned mini skirts because they really elevate what may be a simple outfit. I usually stick to black, but I’ve been inspired to branch out into the colorful tights world. I find it so fun and chic when people choose colored tights over plain black ones, and the ever-stylish student body at Tulane has definitely inspired me to do so. And honestly, the inevitable rips and runs add more character. </span></p>
