<p>As awards season winds down, tons of new movies are hitting theaters soon. I&#8217;ve compiled a list of the ones to look out for this year, so be sure to run to see them soon!</p>
<p><strong>1. <em>Us </em>(March 22)</strong></p>

<p>After witnessing the immense success that writer/director Jordan Peele experienced in 2018 with his film <em>Get Out</em>, audiences and critics are counting down the days until his next film hits theatres. Released shortly after Christmas, the initial trailer instantly sparked fear and excitement. This haunting thriller centers around the Wilson family; one night, they witness strangers lurking in their front yard. Upon closer inspection, these people turn out to look just like the Wilsons—only with murderous tendencies and more distorted physical characteristics. No doubt, this film will take audiences on a journey full of action and suspense much like the trailer did.</p>
<p><strong>2. <em>Avengers: Endgame</em> (April 26)</strong></p>

<p>Arguably the years most anticipated film, <em>Avengers: Endgame</em> has had audiences wanting answers since the premiere of <em>Avengers Infinity War</em> nearly a year ago. Since then, the ambiguous information and select footage released in trailers have only increased the suspense and anticipation for this movie. There have been thousands of theories about how the remaining superheroes will restore order to the universe and revive the other half of the galaxy’s population, all of which will either be confirmed or denied when this epic conclusion to Marvel’s hit movie series premieres in April.</p>
<p><strong>3.<em> </em><em>Once Upon a Time in Hollywood</em> (July 26)</strong></p>

<p>The star-studded cast of this film has audiences excited for Quentin Tarantino’s latest release. Featuring Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Margot Robbie, Al Pacino, Dakota Fanning, Kurt Russell, and Lena Dunham, this film follows an actor and his stunt double in the late sixties as they struggle to remain relevant in Hollywood. The plot also focuses on the murder of Sharon Tate by the Manson family. While there has yet to be a trailer released, the few pictures and little information that have been released has generated much conversation and speculation among critics and audiences alike.</p>
<p><strong>4. <em>Joker</em> (October 4)</strong></p>

<p>While many superhero fans would view 2019 as the year of Marvel, Warner Bros. film <em>Joker</em> aims to leave its mark. This project, starring Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro, and Zazie Beetz, adopts an unusual lens to the DC villain by focusing on his origins as a failed stand-up comedian who turned into the infamous villain we all know today. Among critics and fans, this movie is already generating considerable buzz despite the fact that it hasn’t even released a trailer yet.</p>
<p><strong>5. <em>The Goldfinch</em> (October 11)</strong></p>

<p>The anticipation behind this movie is driven by fans of the best-selling novel by Donna Tartt. Following the same plot as the novel, the film is about the lives of a family who takes in a recently orphaned boy after a terrorist attack on a New York City museum. Notable cast members are Nicole Kidman, Sarah Paulson, Ansel Elgort, and Finn Wolfhard. Audiences are eager to see if the film adaptation will live up to their high expectations for the original Pulitzer Prize winning novel.</p>
<p><strong>6. <em>Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile</em> (2019)</strong></p>

<p>Generating buzz on social media and among critics after its successful initial release at the Sundance Film Festival, <em>Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile</em> attempts to retell serial killer Ted Bundy’s crimes through the lens of his girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer. Lily Collins and Zac Efron star in this thrilling tale of one of the most infamous killers in America’s history. Its trailer has upwards of four million views and has sparked controversy and excitement online. Recently, Netflix purchased the rights to this murder thriller for nine million dollars adding to its film collection on Ted Bundy. While it has no official release date, audiences are beyond eager to see Efron and Collins’ performances.</p>
